Hill of crosses

Hill of Crosses

The Hill of Crosses near Šiauliai is one of the most unusual pilgrimage sites in Europe. Thousands upon thousands of crosses cover a small hill, placed there by visitors over many generations. The site represents faith, remembrance, and Lithuanian national identity. Walking through the narrow paths surrounded by crosses creates a powerful and unforgettable atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the Baltic region.

Despite its religious origins, the Hill of Crosses attracts travelers of all backgrounds because of its visual impact and historical symbolism. Even for non-religious visitors, the scale of the site is impressive.
